Choose your own disaster
In April, WBUR CitySpace hosted a completely unique, live, choose your own disaster event. Through a live voting interface, audiences could weave together film clips from disaster movies like The Day After Tomorrow, Geostorm, and The Core to create a custom disaster experience. My task was to design and animate the onscreen graphics. Over 60 multiple choice options, multiple outcomes, and plenty of hilarious storylines, I had my work cut out for me. Interfacing with the technical team for the event, I created a modular system of graphics.
“Cyber” is the word I would use to characterize the aesthetic. Think whatever the “hacker” has on her screen in an action movie. I even had the chance to make a globe look like a full size earth and put Michael Bay style graphics over it. Needless to say, it was a blast to make.
